to me, the GD defined the OUTDOOR CONCERT!

i mean, that was THEIR FORTE! it's what they were made of, to the core... getting out in the fresh air, with ELECTRICITY in tow! that was IT man -- out in the open with VERY FREE people who could DO AS THEY PLEASED!

it is all incumbent on the SETTING!

and like i have said before, and will again.... THE GRATEFUL DEAD is all CONTEXT.......... the Music, the Vibe, the People -- they come together BEST outdoors, and rock OUR WORLD.... it is all we could want.....

nothing else matters, JERRY, BOB, PHIL, BILLY, MICKEY -- OUTSIDE man, with wild tapestries flying, flags, smoke, girls, vans, sand, trees, ocean = FUN! (like we need it!)

Jump in late, but for outdoors the 3 I loved best were:

Frost
Greek
Red Rocks

Inside: I'm surprised no one mentioned Atlanta's Fabulous Fox Theatre; I'd pay to see the Wiggles play there just to hang out inside. Warfield was not that bad a hall either (and reopens this weekend).

For JGB:
Eel River outside
Lunt Fontane inside [and the Stone was where I had the most fun; trading snide comments with Jer standing an arm's length away)

If the one looking out over Keith is the 9-28-75 show in GGate Park, which it sure looks like, I am just down there about 6 rows of people back, directly above Keith looking at Phil...can't see myself yet...will work on it.

Unless this ISN'T 9-28....
